New page for old project. I've been working on it off and on - but mostly off - since 2003. Since I finally finished all of the blackwork for one sleeve, I decided that it was time to make a page for it. If I continue on this timeline, it will be at least another 10 years before it's all complete. =)

November 14, 2008

I've had this written up for awhile and just needed to work on the actual layout and adding in a few new pics but that apparently takes me four months to do. It's not quite up to date either but it's a lot closer than it was. I did manage to wear it to ComicCon but it wasn't done then and still isn't done now. Hopefully it will be completely done in time for Gallifrey in February. =)

May 10, 2008

Wow! Another update! This is for a new costume too! I'm rather excited about it. =) This one has a gallery page and a construction/notes type page. First link is the gallery and second link is the notes page. Next project - Romana. I will get that done this year!

May 9, 2008

Pics from my latest event are up! CostumeCon was great fun and can't wait for the next one. I was thinking of waiting until it came back to the west coast but after actually attending this one, I'm scrambling trying to find a way to get to CostumeCon 27 - Baltimore. It can't be anything but fun and I have so many ideas rolling around that it's going to be hard narrowing it down to the few I'll be able to get done.

February 27, 2008

Nothing too new - just a much needed update. I cleaned up a few pages and since the changes were so minor, I'm not going to mention them here. I had written the updates for the Dr. Who page on the 11th but missed taking a picture when I had things out and it's taken me this long to get that one last pic taken.

The gallery had a bit more of a change. I added two new (old) costume pages. Both had been made and worn awhile ago and it's just taken me awhile to write the pages for them. The purses page has been updated too because I made two silly little purses that are hardly worth a mention. =)

We went to the Escondido Renaissance Faire last weekend on what should have been the last day of the faire. However, because of the wild fires going on right before opening, they pushed the faire back one week. And it became clear why on the way up. There was definitely fire damage along the way and all of the ash and smoke that would have been still in the air would have made that opening weekend kinda nasty just for breathing and I can't imagine any vendor would want their merchandise out in that.

And like normal for me, I forgot something. This time I was all prepared the night before, got the costumes out, made sure we had all of the 'things' to make it look right and everything. However, I forgot about the camera and didn't remember it until we got up in the morning. Of course, no charge. I plugged it in right away while we got ready but it still didn't have much juice so we didn't get very many pics. Absolutely no pics of us, but that really isn't too surprising. =)

October 19, 2007

Not much of an update. I just finally got nrgd up in the gallery. Baby steps. Maybe next update I will have a new page.

September 29, 2007

Dragon*Con pics have been up for awhile but I hadn't listed it on my events page until today. I was good about getting the pics up but not so good with the telling people about them.

And also some much needed updates to the gallery, the updates range from just a comparison photo added to new pics and new content added. So far no new pages, it's easier to add to existing pages than to create completely new ones. The picture situation for the new costumes is somewhat bleak at the moment which means setting up for pics. I'll be working on the new pages soon hopefully but I have a pretty big project coming up so it might end up being awhile.

That's about it for now. I think everything that I have left to do is new content so maybe in another six months I'll actually get to that. =P I update my LJ page, aviendiora, quite a bit more frequently if anyone is all that interested. That is also where I write about Guild Wars but everything is tagged either costumes or GW so the costuming or gaming stuff can be ignored as desired.

August 7, 2007

I actually managed to get Costume College pics up fairly quickly! Part of that was because the camera wasn't cooperating so there weren't that many to put up. I also didn't divide them into days because there really weren't that many on any day but Saturday. Now to get to work and make costumes so I have something new to wear next year. =)

August 2, 2007

Wow, long time since an update... Not too much to update either. I have ComicCon 2007 pics but that's it. I have a few other things that I should put up but it's not going to happen right now and I'm not too sure how long it will be. I'm hoping it won't be another two months but...

May 22, 2007

So much for weekly updates. I should just state that I will do monthly updates and it will be a happy surprise if it happens more often. =) I have updated both the lavendar project and the Dr. Who project but the Dr. Who update is really minor and hardly worth mentioning. And a minor update on the projects page. I actually made a page for another costume so it's listed now too.

I went through my website last week and discovered that I had never finished the pic pages for the sold costumes. I really thought I had finished that last October. Well, it is finished now but I think I want to change it. The changes will wait though. Also, I can't believe how bad some of these pics are. I certainly don't think I take good pics now but wow. So, hopefully it isn't too horrible but good luck on seeing any detail on some of them.

And the crazy skirt is done with sequins and beads until I sew up the side seams but I need to buy some lining first. It's getting close and might actually get done this year...only a year late! And I'm working on my Guild Wars subdomain so that might be done for the next update. =)

April 30, 2007

Just a small update with the lavendar this time. And it has a broken link within the page. I was going to write more pages today but it's later than I thought so it will have to wait. =)

April 27, 2007

It's been a long time since an update because I have become addicted to Guild Wars. It was so bad that two weekends ago, I banned myself from the game for the weekend so I could work on a costume. It worked so well that I did it again last weekend and managed to finish nrgd! w00t! It is currently up on eBay - direct link here.

I've updated the diary, but it is a sad and pitiful update. I went crazy sewing and didn't take pics so this turned out to be a pitiful attempt at a diary. I'll update the pages again when I have a bit more time so it's a bit easier to navigate and works the way I want it to but for now, here it is. Click on the nrgd banner and at the bottom will be a link to the final pics but clicking on the eBay auction will show basically the same thing. So, your choice. Now to get my little dervish through the Consulate Docks mission... (It's the second birthday of Guild Wars and they have fun stuff planned, I'll get back to sewing next week. Really. Until they have another really cool thing planned...) =)

Oh yeah, and I've been working on the crazy skirt, it's getting close but I need yet more sequins and beads before I can get further.

March 25, 2007

Yes, I have been working on things, just not the webpage. But if only you could see my storage room. It was difficult to walk into before and now a queen size air mattress will fit in there and yes, that means it can lay down, not just stand up. Yeah, that's only impressive to me.

The updates include the typical Dr. Who page but not the lavendar gown - haven't touched that other than to move it out of the way. But it also includes the new dress that I call nrgd.

And completely unrelated to costumes (or maybe not, depends on how it turns out) is a crazy skirt that I've picked up again. I worked on it for awhile last spring and haven't touched it since. The sequins were supposed to be a nice accent. I needed a work project and that was easy to grab as I was running out the door. Not sure I would use the same color sequins if I were to start over but considering I was nearly half done with it before picking it up again, I'm not going to redo it.

But my favorite thing right now has to be a new addition to the family. Avien Dannui, my little mesmer.

I had been playing Bryan's copy of Guild Wars - he let me have one of his character slots. However, we found out that that was a bit against the User Agreement, like completely against the Agreement and since that could result in bad things, I got my own copy. So, little Avien was created. =) she is barely level one, a grand total of 125 exp. Bryan's main char is well over 1mil so I have a ways to go.

February 20, 2007

Another update! Yes, I was going to update last week and never got around to it. And I don't know when this update is finally going to be published. My host was bought out or merged or somesuch and everything is being moved over but they miscalculated the need and... Basically, my website doesn't work about half of the time. I try to access it and no luck. Anyone know of a good host? Good, cheap host? =)

That's my little bit of whining.

Surprise of all surprises - I have updated the lavendar Elizabethan and the Dr. Who costumes.

The other thing that I have been working on is a new Elizabethan. I know I'm not done with the lavendar one but honestly, that has never stopped me from starting something new. You can see the skirt that I started over two weeks ago on the Dr. Who page. Yup, it's still not done. Maybe you're starting to see why I get so excited when I do finish something (look at the lavendar Elizabethan page). I'm working on a page for the new project but I haven't named it yet so that makes naming the pics and page a bit difficult. Plus, there really isn't much to put on it yet. Maybe there will be more next week.

Anyway, back to working on one of my many projects while I wait for my webpage to come back up so I can upload everything and make sure it works correctly. =)

February 5, 2007

Real life projects aren't nearly as much fun as costumes. I tried to make a new skirt and top for the company holiday party that was this past weekend. Great plan, didn't work out though. I could have finished it but I got lazy and now it will prolly never get done because that seems to be the way I do things. It turned out to be a good thing it didn't get done because other than Bryan, myself, and one other person, everyone was wearing jeans. I must have missed that memo. Not that it would have made that much difference. I'm losing weight and none of my jeans fit so that would have meant a shopping trip. The last time I tried to find jeans, it took me three days of shopping and the results were still less than stellar. I would rather sew a costume and wear slacks that do fit. Yay, for skinnier (emphasis on the 'er') clothes fitting again!

Anyway, that's not updating stuff, that's just whining about why I haven't done more. Not too surprisingly, I have worked more on the Doctor Who costumes and the lavendar silk Elizabethan. I know, the shock and surprise of it all will be difficult to handle. I do have another project that I have added into the queue that might see the light of day this weekend but that will be for the next update if it actually happens. I wouldn't count on it.

Also, I changed things around a little. I took away my comments page and replaced it with a links page. Not much there but it's still more interesting than my comments page, although Llyra was helping with that. Thanks! I also changed the feedback method a little and there should be a link at the bottom of all pages (except for the pic pages off of events) that leads to a feedback form. I learned my first bit of php to achieve that so I find it exciting and fun for that reason alone. So, send me an email, it's fun. Really... Okay, I'm a geek AND easily amused. I have a few other changes planned but once again, I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. I really don't have a good track record when it comes to getting things done in a timely manner.

*Note: This isn't actually being uploaded on the 5th but it's current to the 5th and if it's dated too close to next Sunday/Monday, I'll have an excuse not to update and that's not good.

January 8, 2007

It's been awhile since I've updated this part of the webpage. I've been working on getting all of my embroidery designs online. This is mostly so I know what I have and can plan out things at work. I have a lot of down time and sometimes a break from knitting is needed.

Also, my cat, Koko, had to have surgery the Thursday before Christmas. This meant a lot of time tracking her and keeping her happy until she healed enough that she didn't need constant monitoring. Even with both Bryan and myself keeping an eye on her, she managed to pull out three stitches. Thankfully she had those taken out last Thursday so we have gotten back to normal for the most part.

Anyway, with Koko not feeling the best, I had to change directions on the purple silk project. This is good because I atually finished the first piece to that costume! The caul is done and hidden back in the box so Koko can't shed black fur all over it. She likes to do that. Especially on white fabric. I got a bit further with beading the sleeve but not as far as I would have like, as normal.

Knitting has continued on the scarf and a fabric option has come up for the Romana costume as well. It's on clearance so that's always nice. I was looking for a fabric for another costume so if I can find more elsewhere for Romana, then the fabric I currently have will go towards an Elizabethan costume. It will be a doublet bodice out of the darker silk with the wool for the skirt and if there is enough silk, guards will go on the skirt. The projects page has been updated with that too.

December 18, 2006

More beading and more knitting. The most interesting thing this past week, costume-wise, was deciding on the yarn for Bryan's scarf. I won't be starting his scarf for quite awhile yet because I want to finish mine first since I've started it first.

December 10, 2006

I've started work on the lavender Elizabethan gown again. Finally. I've also made a bit of progress with the Dr. Who costumes.

October 30, 2006

We just went to a RenFest and got a few pics of our peasant costumes so I can finally put those pages up and since we were there, Bryan took lots of pics. He is the master of that camera so once again, I only have a few silly (bad) pics of him. One day, I will manage to get good pics of him.

October 27, 2006

Waiting for the sun to come up and warm up a little has given me time to work on more pages. So, another update!!

October 25, 2006

I'm doing this one in stages. It's pretty easy to do but I have so much other stuff going on that I'm doing a little at a time. I had a request to have better pictures posted of the 'Sold' dresses on the gallery page. So, I'm going through my folders one at a time and throwing up more pictures. My folders are organized in a way that makes sense to me but prolly not anyone else so these are not necessarily representative of what I consider my best work, but the first folder alphabetically on the cd. More to come soon, I hope. To check them out, go the gallery page or follow the links below. And yes, two of them do lead to the same page but I couldn't decide which pic to use and figured not everyone would go look at the individual pages anyway. If it's annoying, let me know.

October 8, 2006

It's not much but since I have an updates page and I did do an update, here you go. Kaylee's jumpsuit and parasol from the pilot episode of Firefly, Serenity, is up as well as the noble renaissance costumes that I have. And the purses. I think next time, I will wait until I'm done updating before updating the update page...

It feels like the next day because I sleep during the day but it's the same date so here it is, another update! My project page is up, the link is at the bottom of this page and most others. I'm sure it's only a partial list, but it should help organize my thoughts and should help Bryan pick out stuff for this next year.

September 30, 2006

Well, the whole website is an update so there isn't much to report. Basically, if it's here, it's new. =)
