I started off with my purse because I needed something to keep my stuff in during a pre-screening of Serenity. My normal purse at the time looked really weird with the costume so I tried something that I thought Kaylee would like. It took much longer than I thought it would but I like it and it has become my normal purse. I bring it along everywhere and it has gotten a lot of comments. I had fun with it even though I still haven't finished it. There should be a lining but I had fused all the pieces to interfacing once they were stitched together so that acts almost like a lining. Plus I would have to empty the purse in order to put the lining in and I'm not sure I want to go there. It has also become storage for my browncoat pins, most are sewn down so I don't lose another. I had to 'borrow' one from Bryan to replace my lost one. =)
I moved onto this purse just because the fabrics all came together. It was fun but not my colors so I gave it to Mom. I'm still hoping to make something similar in colors more me so I can have another purse.
These two also just came together. I have fun sewing ribbon to the pieces and then sewing it all together to see what happens and not too surprisingly, most of my fabrics are in the blue range. Mom and I found the fabrics for the other one during one of our shopping expeditions and it just looked like spring to me. Bryan suggested putting the bugs on it and I thought it was a fun idea so we went scouring for bugs. Both of these were sent back to Mom for an auction that her quilt guild was doing.
These two were just really quick projects. Llyra had sent me a neat purse that I wanted to copy but kinda ran out of time so I made it up in a much smaller size out of scraps of two different purple brocades. It didn't turn out quite as planned but I have the idea figured out now so the next one will turn out much better. The black and silver was made really quick for a holiday party. I used a pattern but tweaked it slightly with the addition of the pearls and tucks - it was just too flat without it. I'm not sure if the pattern meant it to be reversible but it worked out quite nicely so either way works.
