The original look...
This suit basically got made so Bryan would have something to wear when I wore the fluffy dress. It was a lot of fun though. My mom made up the pants after I got the muslin fitted and the good fabric cut. She is completely responsible for how awesome they look! They got done in time for the Browncoat Ball 2004 in Chicago but it took me until DragonCon 2005 before the jacket got done. Mom also made the shirt for me. I think I made the vest and tie but I'm not entirely sure, it was awhile ago. The month before Browncoat Ball 2004 was a good month, I conned my mom into helping me a lot and we wouldn't have looked nearly as good without her.
Bryan really liked the vest fabric that we used and I couldn't find a nice gold so burgundy it is. Since I was switching colors on the fluffy dress, why not switch colors on Bryan too? I really liked the brocade we used and I had been trying to find a reason to buy that fabric for the past three months so it wasn't that hard to convince me.
The trim on the jacket was stitched down on the way to DragonCon 2005 and the night we arrived. I had until Friday morning to get everything done because I'm not supposed to work on costumes during a con and I actually did follow that at DragonCon. Technically, I would like to redo the cuffs. I don't remember why but I remember that I wanted to. Bryan insists that it's all right and I don't remember what I wanted to do so this one is done. I think I would remember if I looked at it though...
9-29-2007 - I was looking for pics of the original so I could post the look I was going for and just noticed that I had tied Bryan's tie correctly for the first Browncoat Ball and then messed it up every time after that! Well, I will remember and it will be correct the next time he wears it.
